Nicolaides Fink Thorpe Michaelides Sullivan LLP Achieves Mansfield Certification Plus Status

Nicolaides Fink Thorpe Michaelides Sullivan LLP is pleased to announce that it has achieved Mansfield Certification Plus status after completing Diversity Lab’s Midsize Mansfield Rule certification program.

The firm announced its participation in the 18th-month certification process in September 2021, pledging to affirmatively consider at least 30 percent women attorneys, underrepresented racial and ethnic attorneys, LGBTQ+ attorneys, and attorneys with disabilities for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, formal client pitch opportunities, and lateral hiring.

In addition to completing the program, the firm was among one-half of the Mansfield-certified firms that achieved the Certification “Plus” status, which indicates that the firm successfully attained 30% diverse representation in current leadership roles and pipeline activities.

“The firm’s successful competition of Diversity Lab’s Midsize Mansfield Rule certification program is further evidence of our commitment to attracting, retaining, and promoting outstanding attorneys and professionals who reflect the marketplace and communities we serve,” said Monica Sullivan, partner and co-chair of the firm’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. “This philosophy has served as a pillar of the firm since its inception, as women continue to constitute more than 50% of our attorneys, a threshold we have maintained since 2014. The firm recognizes that the legal and insurance industries still have work to do in other diverse categories, which is why the firm’s partnership with Diversity Lab was pivotal in paving the way for us to establish intentional, measurable, and transparent processes for boosting the representation of diverse attorneys.”

“All of these certified firms stepped up as trailblazers to create more diverse and inclusive leaderships in the midsize firm sector,” said Alyssa Jarvis, Senior Manager of Mansfield at Diversity Lab, in a statement. “Despite launching this change-management effort during a global pandemic among other marketplace disruptions, these firms were not deterred from tackling challenging talent systems changes to increase diversity in their firms and the profession. This is a truly committed group of firms and leaders who see the value in measuring what matters.”

As part of the firm’s successful completion of Diversity Lab’s Midsize Mansfield Rule certification program, it will have the opportunity to send its newly promoted underrepresented partners to the Mansfield Client Forums, where they will have the opportunity to build relationships with in-house counsel from more than 80 legal departments.
