The Cumis Minefield: Essential Ethics for Insurance and Defense Attorneys

On October 14, Patricia A. Daza-Luu will join a panel discussion titled Navigating Ethical Issues Raised by Panel and Cumis Counsel, hosted by the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Insurance Practice Section.
 
The one-hour program will examine the ethical challenges faced by coverage and defense counsel under the landmark Cumis decision. Discussion topics will include identifying when a conflict requires independent counsel, the ethical duties of disclosure and communication within the tripartite relationship, recent California case law developments affecting counsel obligations, and best practices for maintaining professional independence while meeting duties to both insurer and insured.
 
The program is approved for one hour of legal ethics credit.
