Monica Sullivan Elected Managing Partner of Nicolaides Fink Thorpe Michaelides Sullivan LLP

Nicolaides Fink Thorpe Michaelides Sullivan LLP has announced that Monica T. Sullivan has become the firm’s managing partner, effective June 1, 2025.

Sullivan succeeds Richard H. Nicolaides, Jr., who has led the firm through sustained growth since 2014, including expanding the firm’s attorney headcount from 30 to nearly 100 attorneys, as well as establishing offices in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco. In addition to maintaining his active insurance law practice, Nicolaides will continue to serve on the firm’s Executive Committee and play a lead role in further defining and implementing the firm’s strategic plans.

“Monica is highly regarded within the legal profession and global insurance industry, and she has played an immeasurable role in the firm’s success over the years,” said Nicolaides. “She has a deep understanding of our values and vision, making her exceptionally well-suited to lead us forward and oversee the firm’s operations and strategic direction.”

Sullivan helped launch the firm’s national insurance coverage practice alongside Nicolaides, Matthew J. Fink, Barbara I. Michaelides, and Sara M. Thorpe in January 2014. With more than three decades of experience in litigating and arbitrating disputes in jurisdictions across the United States and abroad, Monica advises the global insurance industry on matters including pharmaceutical, environmental, construction, and product liability claims. She has served on the firm’s Executive Committee since the firm’s inception and has earned broad industry recognition, including multiple rankings in Insurance: Dispute Resolution by Chambers and Partners.

“I’m honored to take on this role and build on the strong foundation that Richard and our leadership team have established,” said Sullivan. “Our firm has always been driven by collaboration, integrity, and a commitment to client service. I look forward to guiding our continued growth, particularly as we look for additional opportunities to expand our national footprint and the scope of our insurance law practice while upholding the values that define who we are.”

Under Sullivan’s leadership, the firm plans to build on its momentum by exploring opportunities to broaden its geographic reach and enhance its insurance coverage capabilities in emerging risk areas.
